ENBRIDGE EXECUTIVE CYNTHIA HANSEN TO LEAD UNITED WAY OF GREATER HOUSTON ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

PNC Bank’s Julie Sudduth to Serve as Vice Chair

HOUSTON, TX (Sept. 06, 2024) – United Way of Greater Houston announces that Cynthia Hansen, executive vice president and president, gas transmission and midstream for Enbridge, is serving as chair of the 2024-25 annual community campaign. In this role, Hansen will connect with philanthropists and potential donors at corporations and organizations across the community, sharing the impact of United Way’s work in Greater Houston and will work to expand the organization’s base of support. Hansen will be supported in this year’s campaign by Julie Sudduth, executive vice president and regional president of PNC Bank, who is serving as vice chair. Campaign funds raised enable United Way of Greater Houston to connect more people to possibility, helping them find their pathway to financial stability.

“When so many hardworking families in our region already have difficulty affording the basic necessities of life, the rising cost of food, rent and utilities, or an unplanned natural disaster, can have a serious financial impact,” said Amanda McMillian, president and CEO, United Way of Greater Houston. “We’re fortunate to have Cynthia as a volunteer leader. She understands our community’s needs and will use her many skills to build more support for our work to help our neighbors land on their feet—and stay there.”

A longtime supporter of United Way of Greater Houston, Hansen currently serves on the organization’s board of trustees. Enbridge also has a long history of supporting the organization as a million-dollar workplace campaign and a lead funding partner for the Greater Houston Disaster Alliance, which launched in 2023 to strengthen year-round disaster preparedness and recovery.

“In my years as a United Way supporter, I’ve seen how bringing together donors, volunteers and community partners can have a tremendous impact on our community and help more of our neighbors go from surviving to thriving,” said Hansen. “I’m honored to serve as chair of this year’s United Way campaign and look forward to working alongside many dedicated volunteers and generous supporters to contribute to this important work.”

With more than 25 years of experience working in leadership roles within Enbridge, Hansen is currently responsible for Enbridge’s natural gas pipeline and midstream business across North America. She is also executive sponsor for the Asset and Work Management Transformation across Enbridge, and chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee. Prior to joining Enbridge, she worked as a principal for PwC.

Hansen currently serves on the board of FuelCell Energy, Inc., Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) and the Greater Houston Partnership. She has previously served on the boards of Energir Inc., Ontario Energy Association, Canadian Gas Association, Canadian Energy Council, Canadian Energy Pipeline Association, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Alberta School of Business Advisory Council. She was named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 by the Women’s Executive Network and is a current hall of fame member. She has also been recognized as a Canadian Business Leader by Catalyst Canada.

McMillian also recognized Julie Sudduth’s longstanding philanthropic involvement in the community as a strong benefit to this year’s campaign. “Julie brings not only a tremendous amount of business acumen, but a deep-rooted commitment to our community, not just as a native Houstonian but also through her volunteer nonprofit leadership across the community.” Sudduth currently serves on the boards of Ronald McDonald House Houston, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Greater Houston Partnership, where she is also a member of the executive committee and chairs the membership committee. She is also Governance Chair of the Discovery Green Conservancy and a member of the Rice Kinder Institute advisory board. Sudduth has previously served on the alumni board of St. John’s School and the Houston Methodist Hospital Young Leaders for Medicine.
