CenterPoint Energy and United Way of Greater Houston have joined forces to introduce the new CenterPoint Energy Emerging Leaders Institute. The goal is to address the significant void of diverse and emerging leaders and to develop the next generation of leaders who represent Houston’s ethnically diverse community.
Monthly Session topics include:
- Leading Self, Teams, and Community
- Emotional Intelligence
- Cultural Competency/Humility
- Philanthropy
- Board Engagement
- Developing and Influencing Others
We know that there are many strong candidates currently working in area nonprofit organizations who would benefit from this opportunity. Candidates must be in a mid-management role at a nonprofit organization and aspire to future executive leadership opportunities. The Institute includes opening and closing sessions presented by the Texas A&M Mays School of Business; course work is presented by Nonprofit Connection staff and guest instructors.
There is no cost to candidates selected for the program. Application deadline is June 30, 2023. The Institute begins on August 18, 2023.

- Narrative statement (double spaced – 250 words or less, PDF) conveying why you should be selected for the 2nd cohort of the CenterPoint Emerging Leaders program.
- Updated resume
- CEO/Executive Director letter of reference endorsing your participation in the program.
