HOUSTON, TX (April 29, 2022) – United Way of Greater Houston announces that Willie Chiang has been elected as chair of the organization’s Board of Trustees. Chiang, who is chairman and chief executive officer of Plains All American Pipeline, L.P., has served as a member of the United Way board since 2015 and will serve a two-year term as chair, leading one of the region’s largest nonprofits in its mission to connect struggling families and individuals with possibilities that lead them to financial stability and a chance to thrive.

 

“Willie has been a generous supporter and dedicated volunteer leader of United Way of Greater Houston for many years, and we are delighted to welcome him as chair of our Board of Trustees,” said Amanda McMillian, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Houston. “His commitment to the community is evident through the many ways he has given of his time and talent, and we will all surely benefit from his leadership and expertise as we begin our second century of service to the Greater Houston community.”

 

Chiang has served on the United Way of Greater Houston finance committee since 2016, and currently serves as chair of that committee. Additionally, he has served on the executive committee since 2017.

Chiang joined Plains All American in 2015 after serving as executive vice president, operations for Occidental Petroleum Corporation. Prior to that, he served in various positions at ConocoPhillips and Chevron, where he began his career. In addition to his board role at United Way of Greater Houston, Chiang serves on the board of Performing Arts Houston.

 

Chiang succeeds United Way of Greater Houston leadership volunteer Armando Perez, executive vice president for H-E-B Houston, who will continue to serve as a board member and as chair of the board governance and nominating committee.
