Women Who Rock … ROCKED!
Over 900 incredible women (and men!) ignited the stage at United Way Women Who Rock! This year, we celebrated exceptional parents in our community, championing their journey toward financial stability and success.
Women Who Rock isn’t just about music and leather jackets – it’s about removing barriers and empowering parents to pursue their dreams of education. The United Way Women Who Rock Scholarship, underwrites childcare and provides recipients the opportunity to receive financial and employment coaching along with support to ensure they have what they need to achieve their goals.
This year, we celebrated exceptional parents in our community, championing their journey towards financial stability and success. We are grateful to our Keynote Speaker, Jade Simmons, CEO of Jade Media Global, who left a lasting impression on our audience! A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our sponsors whose generous contributions helped bring the event to life. Your support means the world to us and the families we serve.
Creating Change Through Reading
The Impact and Leadership Circle Book Sort & Social was a resounding success. Attendees helped prepare books from United Way’s MLK Day of Service and Black History month book drive and wrote notes of encouragement for students to enjoy as they read their new books.
Together, we sorted 1,000 books for children in the Houston area, spreading inspiration and joy through each page. Special thanks to Laura Winks and Kristy Clemons, for their outstanding leadership, and to all the Impact & Leadership Circle committee members who contributed their time and effort. Your dedication ensures that countless young minds will grow and flourish through the love of reading.
We’re happy to announce that these books were successfully distributed across Greater Houston on March 5th in celebration of Read Across America. Volunteers shared stories and laughter with children at local elementary schools, thanks to your invaluable support. Thank you to all who participated for making a difference in the lives of Houston’s youth!
Celebrating Women’s History Month
United Way Women’s Initiative members are professionals, community volunteers, and business leaders who inspire those around them to reach out with full and giving hearts.
At the Women’s Initiative Chocolate and Wine Reception, members and guests delved into the impactful work of United Way of Greater Houston while forging connections within our dynamic Women’s Initiative community.
This lovely evening of exquisite pairings and fine wine was hosted at The Texas Wine School, powered by Deloitte and Winfield’s Chocolate Bar. Guests observed Women’s History Month by celebrating the achievements of female winemakers, sommeliers, and chocolatiers. We are so grateful to our sponsors Deloitte and Winfield’s Chocolate Bar for making this event a delicious success!
