United Way relies on financial support from you and other Women’s Initiative members to fund hundreds of programs and services that thousands in need rely on. Our 2021-2022 campaign officially ends March 31, with new program funding and investments starting this spring. Here are just some of the ways your leadership gift helps those in need:

This year, United Way of Greater Houston enters its second century of service with an emphasis on helping individuals and families who are employed yet struggling to make ends meet. Our Second Century Vision is to help more people acquire the skills and knowledge required to hold a job with good wages, live in safe and affordable housing, support the success of their children, maintain good health, and achieve financial stability. How it works. Using in-depth research and data, United Way will invest in high-quality programs focused on serving those who are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and those living below the Federal Poverty Level, a group which made up 47% of the Greater Houston Area’s population in 2018. Coaching. Clients will be paired with a coaching partner, who helps identify and coordinate programs/services and creates a plan that addresses their unique situations. Clients and coaches will work together to measure progress and adjust where needed. Funding. The programs and services will be funded by the money raised in the 2021-2022 campaign, which ends March 31. Your ongoing support helps ensure clients will receive the direction and services necessary to dramatically improve the quality of their lives. In-Home Happy Hour Events Planned for March and April WI members Becky Rush, Tara Nutik, and Renee Havrilla will open their lovely homes for small-group evening happy hours, allowing WI members to safely reconnect pre-quarantine style. If you missed this fall’s events, make plans now to join us. And, if you attended this past fall, come again! Smaller, informal settings allow for great conversations, and with three dates and locations to choose from, you can pick one that best fits your schedule. Dates and locations are listed below. About the Women's Initiative Women’s Initiative members enjoy engaging networking events, personal and professional development programs, and volunteer opportunities where they learn about community issues and the impact United Way programs make. Members make personal gifts of $2,500 or more annually and collectively contributed more than $4.7 million in 2020-2021. |
