| A Message from Anna Babin |
The past year has brought many challenges to our community—but it also has brought us together, strengthened our can-do spirit, and inspired us to stand up for our neighbors who needed help.
We at United Way are so grateful for you, our committed campaign leaders, compassionate volunteers and generous donors for all you do to keep Houston moving forward. Your support warms hearts, ignites hope and makes a profound difference in our community. Thank you for doing something about it…the United Way!
Have a safe, restful and happy Thanksgiving. |

| Helping End Hunger--the United Way |
Right here in Houston, one in three families has trouble buying groceries each month and thousands go without food, or without enough food, every day. United Way is here to help with basic needs assistance, food pantries, nutrition counseling, meal delivery and more.
Again and again, food tops the list of requests in calls to the 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE. |

| Iris's Story - The Right Call |
With diabetes and a disability, Iris needs help handling her daily life. Luckily, United Way was there for her.
Diabetes requires her to maintain a special diet and her disability prevents Iris from being able to travel to get food and other basics on her own. Iris lives with her nephew Luis, who attends college in another city during the week, but comes home on the weekends to help care for his aunt.

| Volunteers Answer the Call |
Thank you for your interest in the H-E-B Feast of Sharing. United Way of Greater Houston is thrilled that we have exceeded our volunteer goal for the 2009 H-E-B Feast of Sharing! Hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers signed up to share their time and talents with the less fortunate in our community this holiday season.
Although all volunteer positions are currently full, United Way is accepting names for a waiting list.
