Memorial Hermann Healthcare System Joins Million Dollar Circle
Memorial Hermann Healthcare System employees celebrated United Way's 90 years of impact at the Community Campaign Kickoff in September.
Congratulations to Memorial Hermann Healthcare System! Memorial Hermann's employees contributed more than $1 million to United Way of Greater Houston for the first time this year. Memorial Hermann is the first member of United Way's Health Care Initiative to achieve results of more than $1 million for United Way of Greater Houston, and is the newest member of our Million Dollar Circle.

Under the leadership of President and CEO Dan Wolterman and Campaign Co-Chairs Kelly Ochoa, CNO Southeast, and Chris Toomes, director of Project Management, Memorial Hermann hosted a kickoff breakfast for all hospital CEO's highlighting the importance of Memorial Hermann's partnership with United Way.

"Memorial Hermann is proud to join the United Way's Million Dollar Circle and to be the first health care organization to achieve this result," said Wolterman. "This is another testament to Memorial Hermann's 105 year history of giving to and meeting the needs of the Greater Houston area."

This year's Memorial Hermann campaigners learned about United Way's work in the community through educational trainings, attended the Community Campaign kickoff at Hobby Center, and held kickoff meetings at all business units. Memorial Hermann engaged employees with a variety of special events, including a lip-dub video contest, company picnics, and a silent auction.

Mr. Wolterman, a long-time Alexis de Tocqueville Society donor and volunteer, focused on Leadership Giving this year and encouraged his employees to take advantage of the opportunities for recognition, networking and social activities with others who share their positive vision for Houston. Efforts resulted in a 10 percent increase over 2011-12 results.

We sincerely thank our friends at Memorial Hermann Healthcare System for their incredible generosity and record-setting results. You are helping United Way change Houston for good!
