|Applications are now being accepted for Project Blueprint, United Way of Greater Houston’s ground-breaking volunteer board leadership development program.|
Those interested in joining Project Blueprint Class XXXII must apply by January 10, 2013. The program will begin in March 2013.
Project Blueprint will host an information session on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the United Way Center. Leaders of ethnic communities are encouraged to come meet alumni and learn how they can help ensure a diverse, well-prepared representation of volunteer leaders in our nonprofit community. Please RSVP to Karen B. White at 713-685-2711.
“In addition to providing our nonprofit sector with a pool of well-trained, ethnically diverse leaders, Project Blueprint provides the participants an opportunity to enhance their leadership and management skills, to set the strategic direction for the organization and to build valuable networks,” says Karen White, manager of Leadership Development at United Way.
Applicants are chosen based on their professional experience (three or more years of progressive work experience), current community involvement and demonstrated leadership ability. Participants attend a 10-week comprehensive program that addresses all aspects of nonprofit governance, from strategic planning and communication to legal issues and fundraising.
Project Blueprint ensures that graduates are prepared to assist nonprofit organizations in improving performance and increasing their impact in the community. Following graduation, Project Blueprint graduates are eligible for volunteer placement opportunities with United Way and other area nonprofits.
“The knowledge and information gained through the Project Blueprint workshops have allowed me to handle and lead through some challenging situations,” says Jona Sargent, Project Blueprint Class XXXI. “Additionally, I am able to share information with others to further enhance their knowledge and effectiveness as board members.”
United Way of Greater Houston’s Project Blueprint is a volunteer board leadership development program committed to increasing diverse leadership in the nonprofit sector. Since 1988, Project Blueprint has prepared leaders from Houston’s ethnic communities to fill key roles on boards and board committees in Houston’s nonprofit agencies.
